Common neurological symptoms
Neurologists commonly see patients about the following symptoms:
- headaches;
- memory problems;
- tremors, shaking, or involuntary movements;
- muscle weakness, stiffness, or spasms;
- difficulty with coordination;
- shuffling gait;
- numbness and tingling;
- episodes of altered consciousness or convulsions;
- dizziness and balance;
- neuropathic pain (burning, tingling, electric) affecting a specific part of the body;
- vision changes (e.g. double vision, loss, or change);
- speech difficulties (slurring, difficulty finding words).
Neurologists do not routinely see patients to assess the following primary problems:
- fatigue;
- body pain or widespread pain;
- depression or anxiety;
- auditory hallucinations or psychosis;
- tics of childhood onset.
